Description
The grooves are filled with their precisely corresponding shapes of coloured stone and secured in place with a white putty made from oil, and wax. This was known as PIETRA DURA. (Pietra= Stone, Dura= Hard) The Italians had created a classic artistic form and held a monopoly over it.
